He just fattening them up so when they are released they make a good meal, he can't teach them the lessons a mother rabbit would ,

Don't know why this is downvoted. It's true, they would just become dependant on him and not know how to get food for themselves or survive on their own. They wouldnt last long before getting eaten

He took them to a wildlife rescue once they were old to jump about. He didn't just release them into the wild.
