I hate having to go to hot topic cause I stick out like a sore thumb but it's the only place near me that I can buy fandom stuff so I always return. It's so terrifying but there's so much good stuff.
See, I was in the section where they sell funko items. Back then, I had only just started watching doctor who and I was looking at a character I didn't know about yet. I was trying to pronounce the name, and then some kid, probably 15 years old flipped out. He said I was saying it wrong, probably wasn't a real fan, and proceeded to tell me to try something less complicated and more my speed. As if I didn't posses the mental capacity to understand the plot.
At which point you'd have been forgiven if you'd told him maybe he should be more worried about his perpetual virginity than your pronunciation skills, and to kindly f off. Not sure that qualifies as an "attack".

Verbal attacks are discouraging often times. And rather than encourage more, by arguing in a store with a possessive teenager, it's best to just leave it alone or simply explain that your new to the fandom and was just curious about the merch. Any time anyone is made to feel unsafe, I feel like that qualifies as an attack of some sort.
Ha ha this is so true for me! Whenever I go to the mall, I'm always dressed is dark fandom clothing, like a black badwolf shirt, dark blue jeans, and grey boots, and people always give me strange looks because all of my friends are dressed in modern fashion, light colors, thin dresses and shirts. But hot topic is literally my life in a store, so I can't not go there.
This is me whenever I'm out of cash/my mom is at the mall too. My mom just stands by the door with this annoyed expression on but that doesn't compare to this one time I went in, and there was this old lady there by herself looking around like she'd lost her way and ended up in her own personal hell
I've gone into Hot Topic before wearing blue jeans, a white shirt and a light blue button-up. I sometimes like to buy buttons and graphic t shirts there.
I don't think I've seen a single solitary person "attacked" at a hot topic. Please elaborate.
