*raises hand too* I've been on my school iPad and my teachers told the class, next year they can freeze your iPad whenever they feel like it. So when I'm on funsubstance in class they could just freeze my ipad, ask to see it, and I'd get detention. So that update is making me paranoid.
If it is security, do it. Apple have been a bet lax on security and the early versions of all the bases (iOS 7, iOS 8, iOS 9.0, not iOS 9.6.3 or wherever they are) are bug filled and easy to hack
