Gas stove ovens lit by electric glow-bar ignition systems cannot be used in a power failure. The gas valve feeding the oven is electrically interconnected with the igniter and will not open unless the igniter is working.

It depends on how old they are. Even if the pilot lught is ignited electricly, as long as it doesn't do out you can still use the stove/oven without electricity

I used to have a gas oven and it worked perfectly when the light went out... Now i've got an electric oven which means when the power is out i'm bored AND hungry

Ofc with the eternal flame of bitter realisation that you are nothing and always will be not good enough.

Haha, I can relate. One time, my mom said she'd be home by 8, after her meeting, and my Dad had to leave for work, so I was home alone, and soon it was like 1 in the morning and nobody was there, so i blasted Screamo/Black Metal from every speaker in the house. My mom got home around 3, and the next day the only lady who lived next door wrote us a noise complaint. I got a lecture.

Sounds to me your mom's the one who needed a lecture. Who the hell runs 7 HOURS late and doesn't warn her kid?

Her excuse was her phone ran out of airtime. and there was a really shit accident on the freeway. She was a witness, apparently. hit and run.
