Sausage may have been invented in Germany, but hotdogs are not sausages. Not only is the texture much smoother, it comes on a bun, while sausages in Germany are eaten with a fork and knife. Also, while Hamburg steak was invented in, well, Hamburg, the hamburger as it is known today was invented in America.

Fat Americans wanting to eat German food on the go at state fairs = put German food on bread and now it's American food. German= no bread and use fork and knife

You do realize that all of "american" heritage is from countries like germany, right? It's a melting pot founded by immigrants from all over so about 90% of everything has its roots in another country.... so yeah

Our "fat Americans" were invented in other countries, too.
