That last point is wrong. You don't need to be in 10 gyms, just at least one. You get 10 coins every 21 hours for each gym you have a Pokemon in, for a max of 10 gyms, or 100 coins. You just have to make sure that you have a Pokemon in that gym when you chose to collect your coins.

If you have a max evolution pokemon, then evolving the lower versions of them can give you lots of xp and help you level up. Even if it's just a 12 candy pidgey evolution you still get 600xp from it.

Just walk around and follow any leaves you see on the map. Those are pokemon. And using an insense will make them come to you

F.Y.I., I had issues like this when I first started. The leaves aren't guaranteed to have Pokémon, just a higher chance. I was super frustrated when I walked to them and nothing showed! The "Pokémon Nearby" button on the bottom right will radiate a yellow circle thing around it (much like the circle around your character) when you're walking in the direction of the Pokémon shown on the button. You can also choose a Pokémon from the section that will show it and the distance from you on the button. That will also radiate yellow when you're walking towards that Pokémon you chose.

Say when you click on a Pokémon it says "3000 Stardust," the 3000 Stardust you can use on ANY Pokémon. It is the total amount of Stardust you collected and not specific to a certain Pokémon.
