At least there was a point to Anakin's shitty existence. Jar Jar Binks had no purpose whatsoever in the story. He was just there to annoy everyone.

I agree, the acting was mediocre (apart from Ewan McGregor, who I think was fantastic) and the CGI was overdone, but overall, as a young kid, I enjoyed the prequels. Jar-Jar ruined it for me because sometimes the situation would get tense or dramatic, and then we switch over to this deformity who just kills the mood!
