Alright so I'm not defending apple or anything like that but this post is stupid, the reason they didnt create a backdoor for the fbi was because it would need to be implemented in every device not just the one they were given and that would create a lot of problems for other users, they had the ip address already and didn't need to make any changes to the system they already had
The FBI didn't ask for a backdoor. They asked Apple to sign software that would disable some security measure in iOS, specifically disabling the Delete Data feature that wipes the phone if an incorrect passphrase is entered 10 times. The FBI intended to brute force the phone, not access data through a backdoor.
Right. What they demanded Apple do was essentially write a new version of their OS that was open to a brute force attack. Furthermore, the FBI didn't want Apple to open the phone for them; they wanted Apple to give them the software. That would have allowed the FBI (and anyone else they shared it with) to access anyone's iPhone. Not only do we already know we can't trust our own government, we also know our government cannot secure their own damn computers. If Apple had given the feds what they wanted it wouldn't have been long before it leaked out to the hackers.
I didn't even notice before, but Apple had no affiliation with the Tsarnaev brothers in Boston. That was Sayed Farook's iPhone in San Bernardino?
Afraid I must agree with @ajhedges on this one.
I like it.
