Nothing was said about her yelling at him, only replying with the same bs platitudes guys use when ever women dare to express negative emotions. The only one yelling in the given scenario is the guy.
I can understand where @ajhedges is coming from. Women don't like it when men do it to them (not as many men do this, contrary to popular belief), so why would a woman want to stoop to the man's level, instead of doing the right thing and ignore the guy? Adding fuel to the fire is not such a pleasant thing.
It actually works really fine with any human. I tried the "you look so cute when you're angry" line on my girlfriend yesterday. For two very long seconds, she looked me dead in the eyes, not knowing if she should freak out or laugh, then she laughed. Don't know if I dodged a bullet or made a good decision.
It's not generally that easy to cut some off who's yelling. They don't stop that easily.

just smile and eventually they'll stop and ask what you're smiling about then hit em with one of these and they'll go apeshit because your smile makes it seem like you either really don't care or you're looking down on them

Glad to see this is the top post for today! YOU GO GIRLS ^_^ .... nah jk this post is sexist asf
But for others, I feel like it would be a bit more dangerous.
Woman yells at man: she is standing up for her beliefs and should be praised
