IT would be great if other countries *cough britain cough* could use lessons from the Nazi rise to power to prevent the wrong people getting into power. Although I'm incredibly left in my views, so of course I am bias against all the fearmongering and scape goating of a race of people.

There's a concept in Germany called "German angst" which is the view that Germany has to constantly display it's progressiveness and commitment to various liberal ideals in order to prove that Nazi Germany is a thing of the past.
