lol kids (especially babies like wtf) barely even have a concept of gender. most people are cis anyway so of course the genitals were a valid way to gauge gender at first. it's good parenting, though, to accept a kid if they decide that their genitals don't align with their gender.
I mean....even though I don't need a doctor to tell me I'm a guy, I can look at my penis, shake it a little, and be like, "hey, I'm a guy. This is normal. I like this". It's not a doctor's responsibility to tell you your gender....
And still they do.., for example when doctors "surgically decide" on the "true gender" of an intersex person, partly at birth, partly later on in their lives. That is at least 1 in 2000 persons, meaning we're talking 150,000 people in america alone.
