not understanding why you say it's terrible that this cute animal was hit by a car and then you shove a camera in its face, once as it is "dying" on the side of the road and the second time when you should be focusing on the road not taking a selfie with a possibly mortally endangered animal
*sigh* if only there were a way to prevent asshole guests..Oh wait,I know! REMOVE THEIR ABILITY TO COMMENT. Too many guests abuse the feature and it's pissing me off.
Ya but think of all the good guests. I think that the fs gods should look at all the guests accounts an pick who should be able to comment and like/dislike
I don't know. I guess to me the act that makes this questionable isn't so much the taking of the photo, but the sharing on social media. A lot of people document their lives through photos these days; I don't get it, but it's just kinda what people do, and unless you used flash, I don't see where it would particularly further distress the fox. HOWEVER. If the fox didn't make it, putting this online is just ego-wank about what a kind person you are. If the fox did make it... why wouldn't you document the day you made a new friend?
We don't technically know whether the fox made it. I'm a pessimist, so I'm going to assume he didn't. He was lying on the side of the road for 8 hours; he probably did not survive. Shoving the camera into the face of someone or something dying, regardless of flash, is still inappropriate. That's like seeing your grandmother in her deathbed and putting the camera up that close to her and saying "I'll come back in 8 hours and see if she's dead yet".
After checking this guest's comments, I've deduced that he's probably less than 10 years old and learned his swear words from one day on the Internet. And that he probably is forced into some opinions by some sort of fatherly figure, considering his conservative, mediocre, Victorian modes of thought.
Not all guests are bad :(
I actually made an account but my BB subscription/data provider ssecurity setting don't let me log in.
But I guess there's a lot of bad eggs too xD
Death is something that doesn't come and go. This is a wild animal, so I'll excuse it for not having as complex a brain as us humans. But if I was dying, I would not want anything shoved in my face. This guy just stopped his bike, took a picture, and left. Then when he came back, he apparently has a car, and deemed it appropriate to not focus on the road and instead take a picture of the still-dying animal, which when combined with driving probably endangered himself and the animal once more.
We can't know if he's telling the truth, but if he is, he didn't just get out, take a pic, and leave. He sat there with the fox long enough to get comfortable enough to touch its head. I can't really see a reason a fox would be more disturbed by a camera near it than by, say, a large unfamiliar animal near it, which is what the guy is in that situation.
And we may think it's macabre to take a picture of a dead or dying creature, but every person and every culture processes death differently - remember, we're horrified by the idea of corpses being eaten, but there are peoples that are horrified by the concept of corpses rotting in the inhuman earth and consume their dead to keep them with the family.
Um...we did. It's not your conversation if you're not contributing to it, and we can keep talking about it if we want to. You can't come into a conversation that you did not say ANYTHING in and tell people to "get over it".
@deamon_pastries I have to say, I'm sort of partial to this perspective. I am naturally somewhat nihilistic so I don't regard death in that big of a way. Not that I want people or animals to die, it just doesn't seem to be as big of a deal to me as to other people.
I had said that I'm a pessimist, @barcode, so that's why I assumed the fox is long gone now.
Also, who downvoted my comment because I said @abel_hazard brought up a good point?
Daemon, we're not getting worked up over it. We're having a discussion with such other. And I openly agreed to one of Abel's points, so don't act like I'm being unreasonable.
Then don't go into a conversation that you haven't read and tell people to stop talking to each other.
People can have discussions that you're not okay with, and that's something you'll have to deal with and ignore.
"I didnt even read this and I know theres gonna be some death talk in there. Get over it please, the fox is either dead or alive now and thats that."
"get over it please".
what else does "get over it" mean?
From google:
1.recover from (an ailment or an upsetting or startling experience).
"the trip will help him get over Sal's death"
synonyms:recover from, recuperate from, get better after, pull through, shrug off, survive, come round from
"I have only just got over flu"
2.overcome (a difficulty).
A) Found the pedant!
B) So what other presumed outcome would "getting over it" have had, other than stopping talking about it? I mean, since you said you didn't read the conversation, literally all you knew/assumed was that we were talking about it.
My point precisely. If you can't even read the conversation, telling other people they cannot participate in it just because it has to do with something you happen to dislike is selfish. You can definitely unfollow the post and leave. No one asked you to stay here.
Okay, I literally said before that I didn't tell you to stop having your conversation. Just...continue talking or whatever. Even if I did tell you to stop having your conversation, you could continue it anyway, im a person on the internet.
you can share your opinion and that's fine but telling others they can't share theirs because you find the subject matter negative is not fair
this conversation is not going anywhere.
My dear sir I thank you for your love of life that you went back to help or bury this creature of GOD,
Rosebud is a moron to respond to your act of compassion . Hold your head high sir. You deserve it.
If the world had more passion and humanity in their hearts, the world would be a better place to live for all creatures alike, you did a good thing, I was humbled.
Rosebud....if you were dying on the side of the road...I would drive over you to get to that cute lil Fox. Your comments show the high levels of ignorance that plaques you.
Apparently, he thought it was mortally hurt and wanted to keep it company for a while. Nothing wrong with that. When he found it alive later, he took it to the vet. I think he did the right thing. Everyone's a Monday morning quarterback. Just be grateful for the happy ending, okay?
I ansolutely love what you did. I would put fear aside and do the same thing !!!
All animals deserve love and compassion . They are unable to help themselves, so everyone should do anything they can to help them. To the negative comments, I don't understand how you can be so cold. How would you like to be hit by a car and left alone.? Animals feel pain , and this type of thing breaks my heart. I can't stand to think of the suffering that some of them go through.

Anything else you'd like to debate here?
..... I just KNOW this story ends in a rabies shot.
