That would ruin the whole purpose of a selfie. It feels different taking a selfie than someone taking a picture of you. It's more fun in a way.

To add onto that, I assume it also has more of an ingrained feeling of intimacy, not only with the people seeing the selfie, but also between the people in the selfie.
