The fact that the human mind can flip it's shit due to outside stimulus is nuts man.

I used to work in a mental hospital, and let me tell you, it doesn't seem like fun. Most of the patients are totally distressed because of their voices and aren't able to live on their own anymore... On the other hand, there were two young girls who seemed to be okay with it. One of them always giggled because her voices told her jokes, and the other was always super happy because she was manic. She was also a great artist and painted on all the walls and herself, I loved her.

I know exactly what you're talking about. I'm on probation at my job (first 3 months is a probation period). I can't miss any days. My nub is infected at two spots and it feels like I'm being stabbed, in two places, every time I take a step. It's the kind of pain that even percocet won't help. Yet I feel very lucky and constantly watch motivational videos on youtube. The pain plus severe depression makes it hard to get out of bed every day. But then I remember there are people far worse of than me and that alone gives me strength to press on. You can never give up.
