In Finland we absolutely hate it when we have to sit next to someone in the bus. People always sit at least one bench away of each other, literally everyone, so this would be a nightmare for a Finn.
Pretty sure it's like that in every country. Everyone will always sit on an empty bench instead of sitting next to someone, but when all the benches are full, we just have to make do.
No, in Nordic countries we just have a really wide personal space. If someone sits close to you it means that they're either someone you have known for a long time and actually like, or a complete lunatic with no sense for personal boundaries
Yeah but the point is to have as many people on it as possible to reduce emissions and pollution, if they make it so everyone has their own bench, that means they send out twice as many buses as people need, and that kind of takes the point.
Then again I think Scandinavian countries can afford to do this since Scandinavia is probably the most eco-friendly place in the world, but still...
