There are few things that unify people across the political spectrum, and displays of patriotism are one of them. Why is it ok to go crazy over musicians, sports teams, movie franchises, dress up and LARP or cosplay or any number of other things, but it's "absurd" and "ridiculous" to show the same kind of passion for our country?
Fair enough, and that's your prerogative. Considering that 13 of the 15 decorative items in my apartment are America themed, I probably fall under the category of taking patriotism to an absurd level.
Well I'll own the absurdity then, and despite how it may sound, I've been told that my home isn't obnoxiously patriotic lol. I'm a little confused at the last part, what are you disagreeing with?
I'm disagreeing with your patriotism because I disagree with the country's leaders. You can have your posters and your Fuck Yeah America! coffee cups, so don't let my position deter you from enjoying yourself. Just know that a fruit somewhere on the Internet politefully disagrees
Alright thanks for clearing that up. FWIW I disagree with most of our leaders as well. Also, as a rule, I try not to let people deter me from being myself. Lastly, I very much appreciate your level headed responses and general politeness, the ability to disagree without being disagreeable is becoming a lost art!
I just don't see why it's hard for people to accept that other people think differently than them. You do you, friend. Don't let your dreams be dreams.
I don't dig americas insane patriotism but i think its fucking cool to shout USA and everyone joins, because that means they can at least be united under 1 common thing.
I don't go insane in any of my fandoms or anything and I don't stalk my favorite youtubers. I think I'm good.
