He has two tails, he's not just any fox. He's a kitsune on his way to 9 tails. He's already lived about 200 years.

It's certainly possible, but with his high intellect , two tails, and gold color, he's most likely a kitsune. The only missing criteria would be magical power and shapeshifting.
