We wouldn't. Because today, we'd get sued by the parent for "emotional damages". Well...and actual property damage, maybe. Lol but really. Us teachers live in fear of parents suing us.
Well I hardly believe the " emotional damages " part as much as actual property damage being the reason. The parents paid upwards of $400 for phones today, and if it was a TEACHER who consciously and willingly destroys something that isn't theirs, they should be fired honestly. If your first reaction is to destroy the phone rather than confiscate it or call their parents you don't need to be teaching people who are still developing.
Plus, my school gave me the option of suing a kid who yanked my hair once, they don't make much and they don't want you suing them and making that even less.
