One time, we were looking for a person trying to pour poison in the city's well. I was looking for the well, which was almost literally right in front of us (I was new and wanted to roll for everything), and rolled a 2. The DM couldn't say I didn't see the well, so he said, "You are temporarily struck blind."
I've seen the online tools, but many require voice chat, and I have a very limited cap on my internet, so I can't use that.
Btw, @timebender25, there's a bunch of handbooks for it on piratebay.
(Don't judge me. Where I live, I haven't seen anywhere where they sell the books, so I used the internet)
Well in that case, I cannot recommend Critical Role highly enough. 70 plus episodes on YouTube (each episode is roughly 3 hours). Fantastic group of voice actors playing a home brew D&D campaign.
"I wanna go check those big footprints! *rolls a 4*
DM "Those footprints sure are big!"
