Moved from Memphis, Tennessee to St. Paul Minnesota. This is 100% correct. They once closed the University of Memphis because the forecast called for an inch of snow; it didn't snow at all. Winter storm warning tonight in St. Paul so they are saying be careful if you are out driving. Nothing is closed.
Don't you have school buses over there. What's the big fucking deal about school with full heating rooms closing. My uncles went in front of my mother to clear off the snow with their bodies. For 15 miles. I'm not saying that's good. When kids fall on ice and die in Serbia, nobody blames school cause it didn't close. If we had buses, our kids would be kicked out of house.
Ha ha, as a southerner I can say that the bottom one is necessary because we don't have salt trucks and southerners driving on any amount of ice is a DISASTER. They just have no clue what to do.
I am a Southerner living in Upstate SC and a former EMT/Engineer/Dispatcher. What a lot of people who are not from here don't get, is that the south gets more ice than snow.
I have no problem driving in the snow. In fact, I once had to pickup a police officer (from NYC) when there was 8 inches on the ground. Everyone was driving about 25 MPH, not me. At least 40, the officer said "I drove like a New Yorker."
Now when there is ice. Nope, not gonna drive unless I have to, and I even have chains.
My city has only two snow plows and a dump truck to throw sand. The county has about 10.
black ice is a serious problem where im from so even if there is just an inch of snow if it melts and refreezes it can become very dangerous to drive on
