I think the argument is that video games make KIDS violent. I don't completely agree with that though. I think gaming has the potential to raise a childs agressive behavior and I think without proper parenting gaming can give kids the wrong idea about the real world effects of violence. But all that is the parents fault not the games. If you're going to let your kid play violent video games you need to explain things like If you shoot someone in real life they don't respawn..or if you go around stealing cars and punching people you will probably get arrested
People make people violent, videogames are just a not so efficient way to let the anger out or other emotions, it gives stress but it doesn't make you violent, if you are already violent then it just make you see your inner persona.
I agree it can bring out violence because of the stress of the game but that's not what I'm talking about. If a younger kid is playing violent video games I think those games can give them the wrong impression about violence. For example, my husband let my son play 007 Golden Eye which is not a very violent video game compared to others but there is still shooting and blood. I was kind of iffy about letting him play that kind of game so I asked him If you shoot someone in real life, what happens? He thought that they would just come back to life and I had to explain that there are consequences to violence in real life. Without proper explanation and supervision kids can get the wrong ideas
I know why there is a rating on games and I'm not saying video games are bad or responsible for violence. I'm saying it's the parents responsibility. Not every parent cares about the rating systen and if they decide to let their child play M rated games they need to be responsible and talk to their kids. I don't think it's bad parenting as long as it's not too violent and as long as you explain everything to them. We let our son play T games but we explain what could or couldn't really happen.
Is just that adults nowadays are so stupid they don't follow the rules, they buy T, M rated games for children, that's just wrong. Ignorant and stupid parents
There are games I think children should not play, mostly M games, but some of the T games I feel are ok. What I've been saying is that without a proper understanding of reality games could possibly result in a kid becoming violent. And by violent I don't mean malicious, I mean that little "Timmy" might actually think it's ok to go beat the shit out of some kid at school because in the game people just get back up and keep walking. And the only reason he would think that is because his parents weren't responsible enough to make sure he knows the difference. Drinking is different for obvious reasons.
I just told you children shouldn't play rated T and M games, they should play rated C and E to E+10 games. You want to point out that videogames make kids violent, do you think Mario, Sonic, Mr. Game and Watch or Starfox can make a kid violent?
I'm not saying games make kids violent. If you read my first comment I said that I think the argument that person is talking about is that games make kids violent not people in general...I also said that I don't completely agree with that. I said that games have the potential to raise a kids agressive behavior but I only mean agression toward the game due to the stress of the game as you pointed out. In terms of violence I'm only saying that if a parent chooses to let their kid play these games, a lack of parental supervision can result in kids not understanding the true reprocussions of violent behavior. I do not think video games are responsible for violence. I think a lack of understanding due to irresponsible parenting is responsible for violence.
Nooo..... The people burned WERE witches and they were the violent ones. Those burning them were only protecting the children. Today, video games are turning our children into witches! Who will save us now?
Aw, thanks @guestwho :^) I don't care about the downvotes, I was just curious what the person disagreed with.
That was a very interesting article. Especially the burn victims playing the snow game...weird
Maybe if we make them play ISIS children simulator. You're becoming sucha grumpy grandpas. "In my time... " What in your time? In all times children are retards. I fired real guns and pistols before I knew what computer is, but I turned out just fine. This is like saying You shouldn't teach kids that two fellas can put their weewee in each others bum hole, or they'll become gay. People are just born with likeness or dislikeness for shooting guns in games.
