I had a shirt that said 'Girls Kick Butt'. The school counselor had a shit-fit one day. She pulled me out of class, and demanded that I change my shirt. I told her I'd handle it, so I went to the home ec. class and pinned a piece of fabric over the last T. The counselor was still pissed, but there was nothing she could do about it.
I wore a Hamilton shirt that had a bunch of random, yet important lyrics around the logo. One of them was "How does a bastard, orphan?" Which is the starter of, like, six songs and it's important to the musical. Hall monitor saw it and made me change shirts.
The funny thing is, the way it's used in the musical, it's not a swear word. Alexander Hamilton is literally a bastard. His parents were not married. I was pissed.
It was in smaller print too, and the only way someone would find it is if they were specifically looking for dress code issues.
In my school in England, clothong was so strict that some students from 6th form who went in pajamas to breakfast, it was a boarding school, were made to go back to change and go back again in uniform

I should mention that I live in the USA.
