I find it extremely rewarding when people smile warmly at you because, after helping each other out, you have this mutual trust. It's so lovely seeing people smile! And even helping out people who act like jerks sometimes is really nice because then you start to see them mature into better people, because they've realised how much they appreciated the selfless acts themselves. :D
Yeah, I feel like if doing good is only a chore for you that you do to get some extra points with the flying wizard above who will decide whether to reward or punish you, you're not really a good person. Of course, that doesn't mean I'll try to stop you from helping others, I'm just saying that doing something purely out of hope for a reward is kinda...selfish.
The idea is being realistic. People have a threshold for being good just to be good and that treshold is convenience, beyond that human nature falls back on asshole mode. Thinking otherwise is at best naive. After this point a consequence like a reward or a punishment comes in handy.
Aww, Folk. :) That has to be the nicest thing anyone has said to me. You've honestly just made my day! Thank you so much. I don't know why you call yourself an asshole because you're actually amazing. :D
But if the situation seems hopeless, it's best to just protecting myself.
