It's not real. If you look carefully after he kicks it, the helmet is clearly flying to the left, but as he slides into home the helmet magically changes directions and lands on his head perfectly and with no reaction.
It's physically impossible for that to happen
It could have been kicked straight up. The moving camera makes it seem like it's going left. And since he was running, the helmet could have maintained the velocity while flying.
The arc in which the helmet lands would necessarily be the same as the arc in which it rose. The helmet fell at quite an angle, an angle that in no way corresponds to the one it was kicked in.
