Oh it's just about damn time someone put this into words.
When I first heard the term Social Justice Warrior, I thought, "Well that's great, who would ever be mad at someone for wanting equality between people?" but then I found out how they really acted and I felt like it was such a waste of a term, since they weren't advocating for justice, just inequality for the majority. They piss me off so much. Equal rights doesn't mean less equal rights for someone else.
I was thinking the same thing, for a long time I don't understand why people hate Social Justice Warriors because I thought they are equality enforcers.
This reminds me of the time I overheard an overweight, white, blonde girl on the train talking about how she's seen over 500 anime SERIES, not episodes. Her conversation drifted to other topics, and next thing you know, her friend says something about some new band with an African American woman, an Asian woman, a Latina, and a lesbian. Big anime girl shouts, and I kid you not, "Social justice goldmine!!! Kawai!"

Is this a whaling joke?
Because whaling in Japan is no laughing matter. It's currently prohibited to all but the Institue of Cetacean Research, and even then, only for scientific porpoises.
I mean purposes.
Just a few japanese actually like to eat whale meat, the industry has to be subsidized to work at all, even though the relatively few restaurants serving it are well frequented. For many it's a question of national pride so they were bullshitting international courts with this scientific whaling nonsense all those years, but just recently the courts got more strict and japanese politicians are kind of sitting between the chairs. They don't want to loose face in Japan by bowing down to subhumans (= non-japanese) but also not in front of foreign governments Japan needs to cooperate with, against China and North Korea.
