Sure, but where's Jew history month, Chinese history month, Japanese history month, Muslim history month, and Brown People history month? Devoting a time to study a topic is fine but doing so in exclusivity is retarded.
Bring it on! I'm saying, let's study *all* the history. And not just for a month at a time. Studying one culture or population does not need to be to the exclusion of others!
(not your fault for not getting my point because I completely skipped it in my reply)
My point is that having a month (or any length of time) dedicated to a denomination we (generic term) have oppressed is a terrible idea. The times that women and blacks and jews and japs and chinks were legally and systemically put down are long past. There is absolutely no reason to study these cultures for the sake of "we oppressed them and we're sorry so we're gonna study them". By all means, if you want to learn about various cultures that's fine. But don't make it an apology. You have nothing to apologize for, your generation has nothing to apologize for your parent's generation likely has nothing to apologize for. Our generation wasn't affected, our parent's generation wasn't affected, and likely our grandparent's generation wasn't affected. Stop apologizing for something you didn't do to someone who didn't get affected. It's insulting.
