Do Florida's cities get involved because of the hurricane threat? In NY the municipalities don't own the utility lines or the trees. The power companies will have tree services remove limbs that are threatening the transmission lines but rarely will they remove a whole tree.

Everybody pitches in. Linemen from all types of companies come. Hell, the last big hurricane they were paying the public $500 a load to haul cut down tree parts. Every vehicle that had a tow hitch in my county were hauling wood.

Several of our counties had hurricane force winds on Wednesday. Hundreds of thousands lost power, most recovered Friday or yesterday. several hundred are still out. Everybody pitches in on cleanup where power lines are not involved. Our orchard took a hit and one of our tractors ended up under a tree. We were busy at the neighbors though, their entire driveway was impassable, we are sore and tired, we will lickour own wounds next week.
