You should probably learn how to change the oil and other things like change a tire or change the coolant. It's cheaper and come in handy. Not that hard too. But good for him being a nice guy
I recently "helped" a coworker change the oil and filter on his newer car (2014 scion tc [throws up in mouth a little]). Guy didn't do his homework, twice, and so we couldn't get the filter out. Changed the oil, though, because who could f@ck THAT up.
Long story short, google and youtube are your friends. Make sure you know what you're looking for, because the people at the parts shop aren't paid to give a shit.
I once witnessed someone overflow his car on oil because he didn't know how to drain it and thought "the car drinks up the oil so you have to add more when it says to". Best but worst thing I've seen.
Nope, the dude ignored everything, saw the light and thought 'needs more oil', went to the store and told the guy in whatever part store that his car needs oil, witnessed him open the hood, opened the oil cap and poured and entire bottle.

Do you mean in the user manual where it recommends changing the oil every so often?
