It sounds like the guy on the left is trying to say it's possible to work hard, get a small job and begin to make your way out of poverty he's just reeeaaalllyyy bad at saying so
but even without an education there are thousands of jobs pretty much anyone can do. and even a GED counts for something. and there are a bunch of stories of people with nothing who just worked hard and got somewhere. like that guy from the Pursuit of Happiness. he didn't have a high school education but now he's a billionaire
Those thousands of jobs "anyone can do" don't all pay enough to "stop being poor."
I agree ppl should be hard workers, but not everyone who works hard will be able to magically lift themselves out of poverty.
True very true. There are also different personal definitions of poor. I work 50+ hours a week because I don't make much hourly and I need it to make a living. But I don't consider that poor. While some of my coworkers do. Plus different cities and states all have different incomes and costs of living plus dependents and other expenses.

I've worked for over 40 years, have a decent paying job, and can't afford health care.
And I can't use the unaffordable health care I have because the deductible would bankrupt me.
On the bright side, once I've been bankrupted, lose my house and everything I own, I would be eligible for a subsidy.
My mother makes a decent salary and can afford the insurance every month but the deductible is the killer. She needs surgery on both of her eyes but can't afford to pay it. What's the point of having it if you can't use it?
You guys are the dense motherfucks. He's 100% right. You could have one teenage son work at mcdonalds for a year and buy health insurance for his whole family. If the rest of the family did it's part, the family could rise from poverty. Stop being poor isn't a bad instruction.
Stop catering to morons who want a free lunch and who won't work for their own well-being

1. that teenage kid has a family to worry about his other costs, while people who live alone cannot afford to.
2.That's gotta be either some cheap ass insurance or a small ass family
3. "did its part?" If a family has a disabled person or unqualified person in their family, they can't do their part and would be a burden on the rest of the family.
4. Alright, then snap your finger and pack your bags cause you just solved poverty! Next up we can walk up to a homeless guy and tell him to stop being so dirty and buy a house!
