What do people have against canned food? There are some abominations that I would never touch, like canned chicken, but they're mostly good

Maybe it's because I'm British and we don't have that here, but the thought of eating a whole chicken from a can disgusts me

Yeah those whole chicken in a can things are monstrosities, I've never seen those in a store in America. I think they mean the sort of shredded canned chicken, which are actually pretty good in things like salad.
