Maybe instead of meme-ing, some people should actually see a therapist who can give them self-empowering strategies that will help them become stronger than their depression.

Therapists cost a lot, and usually people with depression want to get better but don't have the motivation to. At least I think so, I don't have depression
I think it's good to have open discussion about anxiety and depression... But I think we have made depression cool. I hate going on Twitter and everyone's like "look at me! I have no friends and am crippled by depression!" When that's obviously a lie, it stings a lil...
FINALLY!! Yes please! To those calling it a coping mechanism, the whole point of a coping mechanism is to make things better. You guys need to think real long and hard about how depression and anxiety are fueled by negativity, and constantly spreading that negativity through memes not only brings others going through the same down, but also is not actually effective at 'making you better' as you're still not addressing/changing the issues you have. Seriously, I've been through (and am constantly going through) my battles with depression and anxiety, and I came to this site to help, but in recent years, it's been more of a hindrance. To those who find it helps make them feel better, great! But don't make the rest of us on FUNsubstance suffer because you won't seek healthy coping mechanisms and CHOOSE to use memes to run away from your issues as opposed to dealing with them. There are plenty of other sites out there, take your 'I'm so hard done by' attitudes there. Let FUNsubstance be.
