This is true but how much research fundraising would you get from a fundraising campaign themed like this post vs a less uncomfortable, more upbeat campaign. Isnt the end goal to find a way to elimimate breast cancer? I promis you the NFL wouldn't have associated itselfe with the later. No $ means no research.
This is a good message. I am not uncomfortable. I hate the media portrayal of breast cancer, and it actually screws up a lot of research opportunities for other cancers. It's gotten better, after things like the Recalcitrant Cancer Research Act of 2012, but still, it shouldn't takes acts of Congress to get people interested in or funding for other cancers with poorer outcomes.
Call me stupid but I honestly never knew that breast cancer can turn out like this and kill you. because of all this "save the boobies talk" I always thought that breast cancer was just a lump thats an inconvenience and that just take surgery and it's gone. But now that I've seen how it's actually like, the redness, the pain etc, I now know that's it's actually a serious problem. We need this to spread around to others
This pains me. I hate how this is not how it is portrayed. I have a church friend who has had breast cancer and is in remission now...I never imagined it being like this. I know cancer is an awful and sometimes fatal condition but...seeing it like this in its raw form brings a new understanding for me. :(
okay people time for a short informative imput: breast cancer is not about redness and pain or oozing or whatever you think is /serious/. most of these thigs are caused by irradiation which is used to try and cure breast cancer.
what breast cancer is really about is a very premature death if left untreated and sometimes even if it is treated. small, painless lumps in your boobs can literarly, cold-bloodedly kill you if they're cancerous. it's not a cosmetic issue, it's a matter life and death and you should never take it easily.
actually, google it right now and if you ever feel any lumps in your own breasts, go have them checked out as soon as possible.
"inconvenience". christ. must it have a blood-oozing neon sign that says 'dangerous' for it to be a serious problem?
While it is true that you should get every lump checked, I would like to add that over 90% of lumps are completely benign. Do your self exams, but don't be hysterical if you find something. Just make an appointment with your doctor. And guys, you can get breast cancer, too. It is more rare, but it is typically associated with a poorer prognosis; guys don't have as much breast tissue, so the cancer can spread more easily to the bone marrow or lungs. By the time you feel a lump, the cancer has been around for a while, so don't wait.
My aunt had a check on her breasts to see a lump, it was cancer, and she had had a check 2 months before as part of the female sanitisation programme. So go as soon as possible, even if you think that's nothing
@darthsagacious: if there was a way to make people hysterical about blood in their stool, we could dramatically reduce the mortality of colon cancer.
never underestimate the effect of a good old fashioned hysteria ;)
thing is, people tend to loooove to be hysterical about the wrong things. but i'd definitelly prefer the hysterical patients over those that have had bloody stool for a year and only decided to drop by at a hospital yesterday. there's lorazepam for hysteria. there's nothing for stage IV cancer. :/
Everyone has their own way of spreading the word about it, just be happy it's spreading. No one talks about testicular cancer that a buddy of mine is recovering from
I never said it was. I know it's awful I've had 2 aunts effected by it. All I'm saying at least people are aware to get it checked out. Hardly anyone spreads testicular cancer awareness and it's just as deadly but because it is only common between ages 15 and 35 and only men and boys can get it. People write it off
My aunt had breast cancer and she has a depression because of it, and she already got a new breast and everything. It is painful and affects a lot of people, it hurts a lot and having go get venom pumped into your veins is horrible. Breast cancer is one of the worst types of cancer
Fucking triggered you think just because you have cancer that gives you the right to post nude pictures? Have some decency you slut not everyone wants to see you strip for them, your not even that attractive. Go find some other deformed guy to pose for. I swear you have no empathy you know how many people have been raped? Seeing this reminds me of when I was forcefully stripped and beat for pleasure. Going on Tumblr to get you banned from my blog now.
