I did some research on this and read at least 10 different articles. NONE of them mentioned if the girl was held responsible for his suicide because 2 weeks after his suicide, the girl recanted (admitted she lied) her accusation.
I couldn't even find a name for the girl, but I hope she was punished because that shit is wrong
I like you silvermyth, so I'm not about to start a debate, but putting someone in jail for their whole life for something they didnt do caused psychological complications as well.
Why would you do that to such a young boy. The guilt that girl would feel still isn't enough for what she would've done to him

How is a false accusation leading to an arrest or even a court case not punishable? Committing perjury certainly is punishable everywhere and normally a witness or accuser in a rape trial would have to testify under oath. False accusations not leading to a trial should certainly also be punishable under US law, no? In Germany this is definitely a matter of criminal law, there was a prominent case last year (google Gina-Lisa Lohfink) who got fined 20 grand for false accusation and is even awaiting a civil case. I can't imagine this is different in America.
