Lots of people still do this. Lots of people don't. It depends on the people, there is no one right way to date. I wouldn't like the first 8 of these, but somebody else might be more formal.
A lot of "old traditional" or "conservative" traditions are there for good developmental reasons. Kids asking to be excused from the table, sitting up straight, mining your eldsrs etc.
sorry but what did you mean by "Mining your elders"?

You gotta mine them from the mountains when they're just right. If you mine them too soon, you might get a teenager, or worse, an infant.
By feeling the mountain, you know if your elder is ready by how many war stories it tells as you inspect it
My ex and I did this and it was honestly adorably fun. We both always had a love for these sort of romantic traditions. But it's not everyone's cup of tea, personally this helped to build a sweet emotional bond between the two of us but others may prefer to do something different. I definitely suggest that if she's an old fashioned or dreamer kind of gal, do this stuff.
Turning off phones and stuff is dangerous nowadays though. Like it's fine to set them down away from you but it's always better to have some way to reach you in case an emergency happens. It could be the difference if seeing a family members last moments or not in extreme cases
