Depending on the shoes, those could easily be well into the $1000s if not $10000 range, which takes it out of being a civil matter and into a criminal case. As far as I know, there are plenty of countries outside of the U.S. that have destruction of property laws.
People who have the money do. Some people will pay $10,000 for a collectible action figure, some will pay $10,000 for a painting, some will pay $10,000 on parts to restore an old car, some people will pay $10,000 for a pair of limited edition shoes. Lots of people have things they're willing to buy besides food, bills, and shelter, and lots of people have the disposable income to do it.
I meant in total. There are 5 rows of at least 10 shoes, each shoe being one of a pair. That's at least 50 pair. Given that he chose this method to lash out at her, I think it's safe to assume she is the type who would go for the expensive shoes. Even if they are only $100 a pair your are looking at $5000 in damages right there. There are plenty of shoes that cost $200-$500 a pair, making that total exponentially higher. As for why, it depends on what she does for a living. She may have to dress nice and is willing to pay more for shoes that are higher quality and are intended to last.
Side Note: I feel the same way when girls destroy their cheating guys games or computer, ect. Destruction of property is destruction of property, regardless of provocation.
If there's a case to be had here, you must admit that every man who has had their electronics, collectable and cars ruined by jealous women also have a case against them as well.
Did you read my comment, because I specifically addressed that. They need to grow the hell up and move on with their lives, and be grateful to be rid of a toxic person.
I don't think smitty even read your comment. The first thought he/she seems to have had was "OMG, SOMEBODY DEFENDING A WOMAN AND NOT A MAAAAAAAN" two sentences in.
You know what I did when I got cheated on?
Not a DAMNED thing. Except letting her mother find out.
I was well liked by both sides of her family, even her mother. I went to family gatherings that she avoided. When we started to have a falling out, I drifted away from her family, especially her mother. Then she cheated and got knocked up. Her mother kicked her out and called me to apologize.
I didn't care by that point, it was just another reminder.
If someone cheats on you and you destroy they're stuff you can be sued. I was talking about this one specific couple and didn't say anything about anyone else, but yes it doesn't matter what gender you are you have a case.
Imo if you destroy their stuff out of heartbreak you don't need to be with people for awhile since breaking stuff is your answer no matter who it is.
Yeah, but there's not really a law saying "you're not liable for property damage if there was cheating." You could still be on the hook for the cost and, in some cases, court costs. That's why people on here are always saying "please don't take an ax to his car, that's illegal."
Well if they lived together for a long period of time then he is entitled to 50% of their Joint belongings, if the shoes were bought with a shared account or Credit Card then he could technically claim that he only wanted his 1/2 of the Shoes to match.
That's only if they were legally married and not all places even have those same rules, so as far as we can assume he had no right to do that because if she cheated on him and he could claim them then it wouldn't be the same as damaging something that's solely hers
How about stop being destructive to them. Just move on. Don't key trucks, don't break gaming consoles, don't throw out their stuff to good will. The courts don't care about 'morality' between partners, but they do care about destruction of property. Yes, they hurt you, but retaliation is just going to bite you in the ass.
Well about the " morality " between partners, it is illegal to cheat in some places if you're a family because you're home wrecking, not just involving you and a partner. So most of the time cheating is legal but yeah, agree with everything else you said.
I've seen pictures of damage done to cars owned by cheating men by scorned women and I seem to recall them being cheered on by some and condemned by others. This time *dons sunglasses* the shoe appears to be on the other foot. Yeaaaaaaaaaa!
i don't get this. getting upset and immediatelly smashing something in the heat of the moment i'd understand but calming down to calculate how to most efficiently destroy a bunch of shoes ... i don't get it. either you're too upset to think straight for like, hours or days, you call your friends, scream and cry, takes you weeks to get over it somehow, you don't want anything to do with the person, the least to fuck with her shoes, etc... OR you care so little you just move on and forget about it. at which point does it make sense to go about preparing for such a pointless lil shoe-spraing operation?

Commence the misandric downvotes.

I'm just poking this hornets nest to see if we have a level playing field.
Or is it, like, a varnish or something that changes color?
She should be coming home to all her shit out in the yard and the locks changed.
