Well you see, one is to accentuate features, make skin look more clear, and overall just make a person look more attractive.
The other is painting your face like a lunatic from the DC franchise that, mind you, does hide his features instead of accentuate.
I don't think either should be illegal, but this argument is incredibly stupid.
I agree. However, with the radical makeover result shown with the woman's pictures and many similar I've seen on the Internet... It could be argued as deception in court, which is exactly where this case should go.
Not against him, but challenging the constitutionality of the law itself in court. Argue where do you draw the line? Women? Cross dressers? Transgender? Cosplay? Halloween?
From the sounds of things, this law prohibits cosplay and dressing up for Halloween. This guy uses makeup for fun, just like cosplay and Halloween. How how is that deception?
Not to mention the origins of the law. Why is it on the books? Why is it still enforced? Banning Halloween sounds patently puritanical, making this law a violation of the 1st AND 14th Amendments.
Yes I suppose you're right, I agree with you. I don't think what he did is wrong in anyway, but if they are going to make that argument, they should at least use one of those over the top instagram models.
"For those of you keeping track of Virginia’s weapons laws, it would seem the interpretation of Putnam’s makeup as a “mask” was the more punishable offense here and not the long-bladed instrument of death he was carrying."
"Virginia’s mask laws are more narrowly defined than the state’s weapons statutes on carrying a sword."
Still bullshit.
Don't go to a ComiCon in Virginia, you'll get arrested for just showing up.
