There's another side to this logic. Think of it from the parents POV. Working incredibly hard to give your children advantages that you never had is a bad thing?

No, it suggest that the single father with 4 kids shouldn't have to work over time and put aside money for weeks just to spend on the meet and greet, when for the rich father 170$ is nothing to him. Ed likes meeting his fans and he wants to give everyone an equal chance to meet him. By making tickets expensive, it makes it harder for the poor father to buy a ticket for his son.
