Obviously children are weaker than adults, that doesn't mean we shouldn't hold adults to some sort of standard of resilience.

Nobody said that, it's just that if someone is going through pain, don't illegitimatize (yes I made that word up) their pain because you've seen worse.

Someone i work with always says that people with mental health problems just need to face the real world and that there's no point in cushioning them.. I wish I could explain this picture to her in words

I mean, he has a point. If you go around hurting people and being a jerk to everyone, you'll end up alone with no one who likes you. Or you may end up receiving retribution.
