It doesnt make it pointless when you pray for strength to get through a situation or pray for someone to get better. Now if you constantly pray for a Ferrari, then yea its pointless.
Yahweh, from the bible, is supposedly (I say supposedly as his actions in the Bible show him to be a fool) omniscient. He knows everything and everything that happens is part of his plan. So everything is part of his plan. He is all knowing and a "perfect" God so he knows the best plan and that is his plan. So why would he change his plan because you asked? Particularly when you realize that he knew - and caused - all the hardships that everyone is going through.
He is evil and foolish. He is a sadist. He creates people knowing they are going to have a hard life and then tortures them.
Isaiah 45:7 makes this very clear: " I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the Lord do all these things."
Does that sound omni-benevolent?
I encourage you to watch this videos. I don't expect you to change your faith, but I do hope they will make you think.

I do hope that you leave whatever religion you are in (I assume Christanity) as it is depriving you of reality. The true wonder of the world is revealed when you stop looking through the biased belief that God exists. Everything can be explained without invoking God.
The Bible says the moon is a light source, that the Earth is 6500~ years old, that unicorns, dragons, magic, and talking snakes exist, that killing people is okay, that slavery is okay - as long as it's not Jewish people, to kill your child if he doesn't do exactly as you say, that it is alright to rape women, that women are less then men, that homosexuality is wrong, etc... The list of atrocities in the Bible is immense. According to the Bible's own words, Yahweh is a malevolent, foolish God who thrives off the pain of others while pretending he does not. He sacrificed himself to himself in order to protect you - maybe - from himself.
If God came before me and proved without a doubt that he is real, I'd admit that he is real. But I would never worship him. He is a despicable person who is undeserving of any praise. However, I do not have to worry because it is impossible for the God of the Bible to exist due to the constant contradictions. It's like saying I am holding a cubic sphere. It simply cannot be so. Perhaps a god exists, but I am highly doubtful that it is similar to any of the gods we humans have simply made up when we were scared or wanted someone to follow - although the main cause for religion is simply to push a certain agenda over a group of people for the sole intent of manipulation.
Riiight. I get downvoted for asking why you would try to tell me my religion is foolish. I have friends in almost every faith including athiests. We respect each other enough to see past that and still hang out on a daily basis.
I'll let you, the average religious person, believe what you like. But average (AKA Moderate) religious people give birth to people who abuse, kill, discriminate, and withhold the truth all in the name of their god.

Kurama sounds like they have a fedora and say mlady a lot.
Don't teach kids things if you can't handle the questions you may get asked ( this really only goes to those who tell kids not to ask things when they can't answer a question which I see too much of )
Ah, I get it! So because your previous belief has been proven wrong, you just twist the original words instead of admitting that you are trapped and have no answer!
No. It says it several times in the bible.(Psalm 17:6, 77:1; Isaiah 38:5,Psalm 27:9,James 5:16,Romans 8:26) also https://www.thoughtco.com/basics-to-prayer-701334 so i have no idea what "previous belief", "twisted words" or "not admitting" you're on about but from day 1 God was never my magical Genie. He has always been to me The Father in heaven and everythibg else that goes along wth it :)
God is all knowing. All knowing means that he knows everything - past, present, and future. So he knows what you've done, are doing, and will do. So he already knows what you want, but just doesn't care. You also don't have free will. Name a single verse in the Bible where it says you have free will. Also, while you're at that, get the kill rate of Yahweh and compare it to Lucifer, Jack the Ripper, Hitler, etc... Let's see who's the worst. (Hint: It's God!)
All effects of prayer can be simulated without by using the placebo effect. The placebo effect, by the way, is basically a sugar pill. It's a fake pill that does nothing but the person believes it will help.
Why do you believe in God? I am open to being converted to Christianity, so give me some reasons why you're god is a more valid explanation than what science (e.g. evidence) suggests.
You have no interest in accepting Christ as your Lord and saviour. You've already stated that even if God came before you that you still wouldn't worship him. Christians are commanded to be fishers of men, not hunters. We spread the word of God and it's up to you to accept through faith. Joshua 24:15 tells you you have this choice. But the refusal of God is a sin and the wages of sin are death. You are not mocking us, but yourself, a Christian will never grovel to you to change your mind but we will gladly pray to God to share his. So continue your yelling and demands for proof, they will fall on deaf ears as our faith
I am perfectly willing to worship Yahweh, but first you have to tell me why rape, murder, genocide, infanticide, racism, sexism, and countless other things are justified.
Also @222daisy Just read all those verses and not a single one mentions free will.
Faith is useless. Faith was a tool of the weak to manipulate the strong. Humanity is no longer in its infancy and doesn't need such fairy tales to explain reality.
I am not mocking you. I am pitying you. You are so caught up in your belief that you refuse to see the true beauty of reality. Take your time. If you want to convert me (Like a true Christian would do) give reasons. Why are you a Christian? Have you every personally talked to the Lord? Were you raised Christian? Have you read the entire Bible, cover to cover? The Quaran? Any other religious text? What would make you doubt your faith? Have you ever considered reading about other religions? What makes your faith better than a Muslim's?
Nobody is going to try to convert you because you're just looking for an argument. Nobody cares if you pitty them either. Belonging to a religion and believing in God are two different things. Religion doesnt dictate my day to day life, but my faith in God and treating people with respect do.
-_-
That's like saying "I don't eat meat, but I'm not a vegetarian."
You don't need God to be good. People were good for tens of thousands of years before God and will still be good when we, finally, realize that Christianity belongs in the same area where Greek and Roman mythology sits.
I will stop trying to reason with you. Someone who is as indoctrinated as yourselves cannot be reasoned with. I only hope one day that you know that you are wasting the only life you have.
Fun fact: our Western idea of "perfect" is heavily based off the Greek belief that perfection is static, like a statue. However the Jewish idea of "perfect" is that perfection can be dynamic, like a garden. Something can change and still be perfect, so if God has a plan and then we pray to change that plan and God complies, that doesn't mean He's imperfect.
Go's plan occasionally includes hardship. Like when you earthly father would spank you, or allow you to do something stupid. The purpose of pain is to realize ones need for God. God is not a wish granting genie, but he is a comforter and protector. Asking for things in prayer does not changes God's plan. He sets circumstance but allows free will. In Eden, some would say the Tree was planted so God could tempt humans knowing they would fail. In reality, he offered a choice and we chose wrong. He allowed us to choose wrong b/c we would never experience His love if we had not first suffered by comparison. Humans are flawed, God is the solution, but we have to know we are sick before we seek a doctor.
He is evil and foolish. He is a sadist. He creates people knowing they are going to have a hard life and then tortures them.
