82-97% of kindergarten aged children in the United States are vaccinated. 1-2% of the worlds population is autistic.
A March 2013 paper by JP. Guthmann, L. Fonteneau, D. Lévy-Bruhl of the French Institute for Public Health Surveillance showed vaccination rates as low as 30% for the "major" vaccines such as DTP and hepatitis in France, yet The World Health Organizations data shows a 20~% chance of having mental health issues or neurological condition in France. The United States reports an 18.2% population figure for mental health issues, and the WHO estimates 25% for most developed countries. Even IF we ignore the data, autism is a spectrum not a universal condition. Many high functioning autistics are sought by organizations like NASA for lucrative careers due to certain tendencies and thought processes common in autism spectrum being beneficial in technical fields. Autism isn't a death scentence and many autistics lead happy (mostly) average lives. Much better odds than Polio.
A tiny portion of the worlds population is autistic, a very large portion is vaccinated, and in countries with very low vaccination rates compared to very high rates there is little to no difference in the number of people with mental or neurological conditions. Regardless of causation these conditions are very common and people live rich full lives and are often quite successful, sometimes partially because of their different ways of processing data and responses. Gambling the host of health risks of not vaccinating against the (unproven) idea vaccines cause autism, and the chance of low functioning autism, the numbers show the odds favor vaccination by current data.
My opinion wasn't offered, just facts. The facts say the odds do not support the idea of anti vaxers even if there is some truth to their ideas, but people still play the lottery, gamble in vegas, or drop out to pursue an acting career, even if success with those things is highly improbable. Sorry if you found it repetitive, I removed the statistics and added (my own) synopsis based on the data to try and simplify the matter as rapid fire statistics can be confusing.
Your opinion is valid. OK. but not vaccinating your kids could kill them. Not doing something that could save your child's life just because you THINK it causes autism (it doesn't). its saying you would rather have a dead kid then one with mental illness. You don't have too but you need to be aware of the consequences.
It's actually a bit more like saying "Gee, I don't understand how bridges work so I'm going to just throw my baby into the water and hope for the best"
