I would too. Nothing is more frustrating in school than a jerk that detracts from everyone else's education

Is there not more than one math then?

Not that I'm aware. There are many disciplines (algebra, geometry, etc) that fall under the broad term math but I don't know of any non-math math.

Biology, chemistry, physics etc all come under the term 'the sciences' I would argue that maths makes more sense, especially as it is a contraction of mathematics not mathematic.

But "sciences" is plural and mathematics is not; "mathmatic" is the adjective, not the singular form of mathmatics.

I've just had a quick Google, common consensus is that both are grammatically correct with some saying that mathematics can be considered a plural noun and it depends on where you live as to which sounds right. I.e. I'm from the UK so maths is right, you're from somewhere else (Canada or US I'm guessing) so for you math is right.
