As someone who drove a manual for 6 months, I would like that too, but not everyone knows what a manual is (it's sad, but it's true) and why you would need to not be so close.
But I've had some close calls myself with people stopping too close to me on a hill, leaving me no choice but to gun it at the green light.
Why would pulling up very close be a problem? I've driven manual for over 20 years, never been a problem. I start clutching when I'm still on the brake, car never rolls back more than a few inches. That's how you do it. My current car even does it for me on a small incline!
I've never been able to consistently do the emergency brake method when starting a manual, but that's just my experience. Also, some people leave absolutely no room--I've seen people park their cars 3 inches behind mine once.
anthracite was not speaking about using the emergency brake method. If you fund the sweet spot on the clutch, you can hold the car at a standstill on pretty much any hill/incline, and then tap the accelerator and slowly release the clutch to take off from there.
Although I like this idea and think there should be something similar for learning and beginner drivers, I'm not a fan of how much that rear window is being covered....
In Australia we have signs for your car that say either "L" for learner or "P" for probationary. They are bright colours so that people can see them and know that you will probably fuck up
Do you mean the learners and beginners have lower speed limits? Because that sounds more dangerous than anything else. More experience drivers would get impatient and try to cut the learner off, so no wonder no one respects them.
80kph instead of 90kph, and 100kph instead of 110/130kph. Every other speed limits stay the same, so really you could cut us off without problem since 90 and it 110/130 are country roads/highway speed limits
