I have to respectfully disagree with that.
1. At one point you were a baby and anybody you respect or look up to was at one point a baby.
I am sure that if a younger sibling of yours died when they were a baby and you somehow knew what they would be like when they've grown up, you would probably feel different.
2.
It depends on your perspective.
if you're looking at the overall effect on the world, it would have been better off if the two rabbits died in the hole instead of creating more lives that would mostly suffer as their only experience and die.
Yes, these 2 rabbits would suffer, but that's morally superior to many rabbits suffering.
At least this way, the population does down slighly instead of up. (A few baby rabbits might make it out the pit)
.
On the other haaand, if you don't care about many animals suffering or the population, and really only cared to see these 2 rabbits live, then I can see how someone might see this being the better option.
Name one thing an infant has ever done to change the world. If in the unlikely event you can name such a thing that it a chance so small it is not worth consideration. I have had two baby sisters (Well one wasn't actually my sister, she was my brother's daughter) and was close with a cousin since he was born (He's nine now... Damn I feel old) and my feelings have not changed on the subject - they've reinforced it if anything.
Human babies are not intelligent and I wouldn't even call them sentient. I see them at maybe a bit above the level of dogs. Humans have a significantly higher chance of doing better things than a dog but it is still a very low one that is hardly worth consideration. If they were my children then my thoughts would be different due to me training them to be significant.
