The ether is flammable (very!) the flames burn all the air out of the tire creating a vacuum and explosion that sucks the tire into place, provided you do it right, if not you get a deafening thud a torn tire with bonus hair removal.

Its handy for seating a tire back onto the news but is illegal for use on tractor trailer tires. You want to follow up with air right away so it doesn't cool and deflate back off the bead.
