Awe, that poor kid! I think it's adorable though, but not being able to fully close his mouth had to be rough. My daughter just got her braces off a couple months ago and her headaches are gone now! No more jutting her lower jaw forward all the time to get her moth to shut all the way!
did she have to use rubber bands? I had this gizmo put in my mouth that put metal bracket things around my my bottom front molars and my top back molars with two pins that fit together on the outside so it looked like a piston on either side. Had to have that in place for like 2 years before I could even get my braces to fix the rest of my teeth... I hated that thing WAY more than I did the braces.
No to the rubber bands, but she had the expander bridge on top. She was miserable with it!! But that only lasted about 6 months and then they could do the actual brackets. Two years of braces and now it's just a retainer at night.
Interesting. I had my retainer first, that was the easiest except when I'd accidentally throw it away at lunch... spent at least 8 hrs overall digging through trash to find it... (lost it like 4-5x over 3 years). They ended my plan by putting a metal bar cement glued to my bottom 4 front teeth and apparently I'm supposed to have it forever (nobody even asked me if I was okay with that). For the most part it's fine but sometimes I become conscious of it and start flicking my tongue on it and then it REALLY irks me.
"Ah, what's up doc?"
