Not really, the assault charges would fit the situation, if you pull a weapon of any kind and injure someone with it you would be charged with assault even if the injury is relatively minor, attempted murder would be a stretch though. The unregistered firearm could be similar to concealed carry without permit or they could have a past charge that would disqualify them from owning a gun period.

Attempted murder would fall under pistol whipping because my dad was charged with it for smashing some one with the pommle of a knife
