I does something like that for me, when I look in the mirror I can see my ears, right ? But when I take a selfie my ears just kinda disappear of the pic and it really disturbs me
The camera captures light differently that the human eye and digital image sensors don't decodeinformation how we see. Also we are prone to perception bias when seeing in a moment. To replicate what you see you need to use lighting and other photography skills. It won't look the same to your eyes but on camera looks good. That's why many times if you see celebrities out or the wedding party at large or pro weddings they will look like they have WAY too much makeup on (even the guys.) it's because when photographing in open areas and with poor lighting the exaggerated makeup will make them look "normal" or "good" on camera. If they did makeup to look "good" in person it would look washed out or odd when photographed most of the time.
