Bit of a garbled sentence there but I see what you're trying to communicate. I don't hate believers. If they can tell themselves that they're going to paradise when they die and believe it good for them. But praying helps no one. Don't pray to help sick kids. Donate to charity.
Not really. Like @german_satan said people idolize praying way too much. Don't teach your kid to pray for starving children. Teach them to do something about it
Oh... Well alright then. Oh, just for the record, even Christians tell those people to shut the fuck up. And, don't forget, Christians do a lot of charity work, and a lot of the work done to find the missing kids or cure the diseases is done by Christians. Atheists only make up, like, 20% of the population... 3% if you want to get technical. The 3% relating to people who actually identify as atheist, the rest of the 20-ish % is made up of agnostics and other non-religious peeps. 70-ish% identify as Christian. That's a lot of people doing good work, while praying for success.
Dumb question. Why can't the kid pray in peace? It is not hurting anyone, so why state mean facts about it? The kid was doing what he thought was right.
You're missing the point. He can pray, but he shouldn't be lauded for it

Idc what religion you believe, im just saying they idolize it too much. He is praying, thats what people of faith do, thats how he has been raised, its just normal. Yeah its good that he is paying respect but idolizing it because he is praying seems a bit much
At that moment, praying is all that the boy is able to do to help those in need. I'm sure that if he's this convicted in his faith that his parents do have him help those less fortunate. In this pic, we don't get to see him when he's mowing the elderly widows lawn or donating toys to orphans. No one is as giving of themselves and their resources as a convicted Christian.
They are not idolizing the act of praying. They are showing his good intentions. They are showing that he cares about the missing people. That he hopes that good will come their way. That despite his young age he has more compassion than most adults. If they were idolizing the prayer, they're better off taking a photo in church where there are more people praying. Who cares even if someone made a voodoo doll to make missing people appear out of thin air. Who cares if there's 0 effectiveness. Let people do their goodwill. Even if it doesn't work, hopefully it will spur something in others. Just because you guys don't believe in religion doesn't mean that religious activities have no meaning. Ever heard of the Black Swan?
*annoying Karen from down the street voice* Well my child donated all his allowance to the search for the missing kids

Why not both?
If there's a higher power out there, prayer might help you find the missing kids. If you're ten years old, you probably shouldn't be roaming the street trying to solve missing persons cases, and you can pray for the search parties or police officers involved. If finding them isn't part of "the plan" in a Calvinist sense, or if it just isn't going to happen, you can still pray for their parents to be at peace.
If there's nothing out there, or if God doesn't actually care about us, prayer and meditation are still good ways to center yourself. There's also nothing wrong with putting some good will out into the universe, religious or not.
It's also good to get up and go look for the kids. Prayer and meditation for self-centering is a pretty good way to prep yourself for what you may or may not find.
Things that are not helpful:
-"God thank you that I'm not a missing person. I know you love me more than them."
-"Please bring those kids back if they are good Christians."
-"Please God, punish those kids for making their parents worry."
-*prays for missing kids* *sees a kid getting kidnapped* Well, I prayed, so it's out of my hands now.
-*prays for the search parties to have all the help they need* *doesn't sign up to join the search party on Saturday, because that's when I was going to have a me day and watch Netflix for 7 hours*
-*kidnap children* "God, please forgive me" *kidnaps more children*
One more thing, and then I'll be done here:
So, I'm a Mormon. We're Christians, but we have an extra book of scripture, called the Book of Mormon.
Here's a verse from that book.
"And now behold, my beloved brethren, I say unto you, do not suppose that this is all; for after ye have done all these things (praying all the time in all places), if ye turn away the needy, and the naked, and visit not the sick and afflicted, and impart of your substance, if ye have, to those who stand in need—I say unto you, if ye do not any of these things, behold, your prayer is vain, and availeth you nothing, and ye are as hypocrites who do deny the faith."
Tl;Dr
Praying is good, but if that's all you do, it's worse than having done nothing.
Ok, I'm done.
Good thing that is only referring to hypocritical Christians who Bible-thump. All they do is teach what it says. Actions speak louder than words. I volunteer for many organizations. Donate to charity. Various other things. Yet, I get belittled for praying, because nobody sees the other things I do. I'm fine with that, because if I flaunted the other things, I'd be told I'm only doing it for fame. People judge too much. If someone isn't hurting you or another, then let them be in peace.
Exactly. Which is why I don't judge you for being a Mormon.... Hahaha! Nah, I like to kid the Mormons, but they're alright... Mostly. A few are kinda weird, but hey, at least you aren't one of those Scientology fuckheads.
Merciful Father, please have mercy on the assholes who think it's smart and funny to criticize others' prayer or others' sharing of prayer stories, and show them the error of their ways. Make me an instrument of Your peace that I might shed light upon the situation, and if be Your will, let me help in the locating of these missing children or the comforting of their families.

I've heard shards of prayers like that, but never the full thing.

There are apparently other ways of displaying lack of intelligence.
