Solar panels cost too much?
So I read that the bottles are supposed to pay for the food. If the machine just gives out food all the time that's a bit of money. The bottles for food idea encourages recycling too. People feel bad for animals so they're more likely to recycle if they see it helping these poor babies?
It looks like there is a small solar panel on the top
Homeless kids on the streets of Istanbul collect and sell empty bottles.
The prime minister Erdoghan has repeatedly referred to them as "rats", and sought to stop them from hanging around, bothering tourists for money, and dragging around the large nets they use to collect them (bottles, not tourists).
No practical help has been proferred, but ways such as this circumvent at least half of an entirely different problem, while also feeding with homeless in a bid to stop them from gathering tourist spots, but failing to home them.
Erdoghan is a master at half doing something, like building huge fountains in Ankara, then a drought hits the country and they've lain dormant for the last 10 years.

That's a really interesting tale you're telling me here and I can assure you (as someone living in Turkey for over 18 years now) that bottles or any other kind of recycled plastic is not really worth that much, they collect paper and metal mostly and I see them everyday on the streets. Furthermore there are social help programs from the government taking care of homeless people but since the Syrian crisis the homeless number of foreigners in Turkey has trippled and there are short comings thus leading to people starting to beg. And I dont even know why you're talking about Erdoğan and the fountains, because thats not even his department. I am not a Erdoğan supporter nor have I voted for him ( and in the future I will also not vote for him) but stop blaming all the problems on him.
Edit: Typos
Doesn't' seem to actually solve the problem, though. It just seems to create a way for people to feel better about themselves without having to actually do anything. Or, more likely, a way to keep idiots from throwing their plastic water bottles on the ground.
