Slavery has been part of every civilization and been of a fundamental part of socioeconomic development of the old world. It's a terrible part of human history but its part of human history. Today we've got the moral high ground on previous peoples. We know better and we should never repeat that part of history.
Irish slaves, yes. England straight up killed and took a lot of the Irish as slaves because the Irish were cheaper to buy than African slaves. There were other reasons obviously but thats just one.
Guest? Go fuck yourself.
The Irish were sold off as slaves by the English and don't get me started on the Irish women that were sold as "slave breeders."
Learn some fucking history before you open your ignorant mouth.
Maybe we should stop going on about white and black slaves and apologies and restitution and all that crap and start doing some thing about the current slaves god knows the media and politicians don't want to talk about them.china and India to name a few not to mention north Korea and the slavery and concentration camps that loony is running.
Slave are building the new structures for the World Cup. I forget which country but it's a middle eastern country. I hate to say this because I'm a HUGE soccer fan, but I would love to see that World Cup boycotted.
The country is Qatar and they basically lure working men from all over Asia and the Middle East with the promise of a stable and financially prosperous job and then take their passports and all official documents from them. They force them to work and do not allow them to contact their friends and family.

People have to deal with what their own ancestors did and what their nation is based upon. Pointing fingers at other nations/people who did wrong is just not going to cut it.
Equating black slavery and "irish slavery" is a very nasty attempt of phony revisionism and people who just believe and spread it are very ignorant at best. Two of many debunks:
http://www.snopes.com/irish-slaves-early-america/ https://www.nytimes.com/2017/03/17/us/irish-slaves-myth.html?mcubz=0
Also one should know that england generally treated poor people like lowlife scum, until way to the late 19th century, not just the irish. Ever read Charles Dickens?
Hm, I guess following this "logic" makes anti-white racism a real thing. And how men are more discriminated than women nowadays. I guess 1984 actually became tue., All this makes be pretty glad I don't have kids.
No, I don't. Just the impact on society is not remotely comparable to that of anti-nonwhite racism. And it's not a coincidence that mentioning of anti-white racism, white slavery in general and especially irish slavery usually come from alt-right revisionists as a package. "Oh, look, even a black man says it" as the killer argument? Seems that's enough to make it credible to a significant number of (white) people. Good job, Pepe!
You guys can downvote me all you want, the problem, your problem, is just that you're hurting yourself. Best case scenario is that the forces of yesterday rear up their head for a last time and you are on the losers side, but it would be even worse, also for you, if the alt-right could really succeed with their agenda of making your country yesterday again. More hate, more tension, more violence. All the best!
Who's this Pepe you're addressing? Most of the violence is coming from the left right now. The extreme left appears to have seized control of the Democrat Party and its leaders are losing control. Meanwhile it appears that the extreme right tried to take control of the Republican Party the center right is holding fast.

"The extreme left appears to have seized control of the Democrat Party and its leaders are losing control. Meanwhile it appears that the extreme right tried to take control of the Republican Party the center right is holding fast." - Obviously I'm addressing you. You're not oblivious, you're a troll.
I'm getting real sick of everyone calling regular Right of center people "alt- right".

Maybe you're too far on the right side to have a realistic overview? Anyone saying "The extreme left appears to have seized control of the Democrat Party and its leaders are losing control" is obviously not slightly off center right.

There's a great book called "White Trash". It's a history of class oppression in America. It parallels the oppression to blacks (slavery, lynching, segregation, etc.) with the oppression that poor whites faced (kidnapping and shipping poor people overseas, breeding programs, segregating poor whites from well-to-do whites).

As bad as poor white people have been treated (up to today, I realize that) they were still generally seen as human beings. I'm not trying to say white people can't have it bad, like really bad. But why the need to relativize what happened to non-whites?

Have you read the book?

If it reports about what poor people of any color had and have to suffer, I don't need to read it, because I'm fully aware.

Just found a review of this book by the NYT: ""Slavery and racism are hardly discounted in this book, but she maintains her focus on poor whites. […] Ms. Isenberg does not skimp on economic analysis. She notes how the central engines of our economy, from slave-owning planters up through today’s bank and tax policies, have systematically harmed the working poor. “We have to wonder,” she writes about her book’s subjects, “how such people exist amid plenty. Part of her answer is the “backlash that occurs when attempts are made to improve the conditions of the poor,” from the New Deal through Obamacare. “Government assistance is said to undermine the American dream,” she writes, adding: “Wait. Undermine whose American dream?”"
Wow, would she get downvoted here, boy oh boy...
YOU called ME a troll? You jump to buzzwords or give up entirely when I ask you to defend your beliefs. You cannot do it without getting angry and emotional. If your arguments cannot be logically defended and can be reasoned only emotionally then they are indefensible. Let me tell you honey, righteous indignation does not make you right. Yelling louder does not make you right. Raising an army with the promise of great spoils is easy until that army's mettle is tested. A quick-tempered man acts foolishly, and a woman of evil devices is hated. I'm offering calm logical explanations and asking thought provoking questions. You are seething with rage at your keyboard. Maybe you should quit Sharpton's podcasts and check out Shapiro.

"Seething with rage"? Meh... My "calm logical explanation" for your pathetic debate club meltdown is that you mixed vodka and energy drinks.
You've reduced your defense to personal attacks, did you get your club and don your mask yet?

Defense? I have put forward arguments which you weren't even able to identify as such, so why would I still bother to take you seriously? I'm not a teacher or social worker. I'm not paid to pretend you're "ok" and I would just leave people like you standing with a sarcastic remark in public, which is exactly what I do here. If you really believe standing on a soap box babbling incoherent nonsense about foolishly acting men, women of evil and raising armies, and honestly believe you're asking "thought provoking questions", then you're either mentally or chemically challenged. Not my problem. Just fnck off or get more of the same. BTW: I'm still not "seething with rage" (Are you wearing a wig and white knickerbockers?), I'm mildly annoyed.

I'm sorry, that's slavery.
You can dress it up with flowery sounding academia all you want, it doesn't change the fact that it happened.
